Climate-Altering Pollutants

Gases and particles released from human activities that affect theclimate either directly, through mechanisms such as radiative forcingfrom changes in greenhouse gas concentrations, or indirectly, by, forexample, affecting cloud formation or the lifetime of greenhouse gasesin the atmosphere. CAPs include both those pollutants that have awarming effect on the atmosphere, such as CO2, and those with coolingeffects, such as sulfates.
