Often small but flexible units they provide an interface with analogue microphones and computers. They can be combined with powerful software to create different effects and they can also have inputs from devices such as CD pla- yers and electronic instruments empowering users to podcast onto the internet they are powerful tools in the collaborative and user generated world of Web 2.0.
