laminar flow

Flow of a fluid in which the viscous forces are predominant. In channel flow the fluid particles move approximately in definite, relatively smooth paths with no significant transverse mixing. The Reynolds number is smaller than 500-2000 in flow in channels and smaller than 1-10 in flow through porous media.
