Narrowband

This is a standard internet connection via a dial up modem. Maximum speed of these is 56 Kilobits of data per second. In reality depending upon line conditions these modems connect at about 40 kilobits per second. This is fine for basic e.mail and text---based websites. Audio, video and software down- loads require broadband connections. A disadvantage of narrowband is that the phone cannot be used at the same time.
